Top Reasons for Living in Brentwood, TN

Homebuyers often ask us what we love about the Nashville area. And while there is a lot to love about the city itself, some of our favorite places are in the surrounding suburbs, including Franklin, Nolensville, Mt. Juliet, and of course, Brentwood! For those of you looking for a place to call home in Middle Tennessee, there are so many wonderful towns, cities, and suburbs to choose from. Ready to find that perfect home in the Nashville area? We’ll be taking time to focus on each area surrounding Music City, starting with its southern neighbor—and our personal favorite—Brentwood, TN.

A Brief Look at Brentwood, TN

Brentwood is the suburb directly south of Nashville and Davidson County. The residential community was once home to many farms—including a widely popular horse farm—which is still evident today in its open spaces, large property lots, and gorgeous parks.

The city of Brentwood has an estimated population of over 42,000 and is part of Williamson County. The median household income is nearly $159,000 and the median home value is $602,000.

Brentwood, like the surrounding area, has experienced a lot of growth in recent years. As Nashville continues to expand and jobs are created, more and more people are choosing to find homes in the nearby suburbs. What is the main draw to this area? Here are just a few reasons people love living in Brentwood.

An Abundance of Parks

If you love green spaces, then you have come to the right place! Brentwood is home to fourteen parks as well as 75 acres of greenways. This dedication to preserving land from commercial development is part of what attracts many homebuyers to Brentwood.

The city’s parks range from riverfront biking trails to 400-acre hiking/walking paths and historic sites. Whether you are looking for a place to take the kids for an afternoon out or somewhere to enjoy the solitude and peace of nature, Brentwood offers it all.

One of our favorite places, and Brentwood’s largest park, is Marcelle Vivrette Smith Park. Found in the south of Brentwood, near Cool Springs Galleria and other area shopping, this park boasts both historic landmarks—the 1825 Ravenswood Mansion—as well as an athletic field, playground, and miles of hiking and walking trails.

Other popular parks in the area include Crockett Park, home to both the historic Cool Springs House and Eddy Arnold Amphitheater, and nearby Concord Park. No matter where you end up in Brentwood, local green spaces and family-friendly parks are available across the city.

Live Among the Stars

Living near some well-known musicians may not be the reason people love Brentwood, but it is fun to note how many famous names call Brentwood home! From current and former sports icons—including players for the Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Predators—to politicians, actors, and musicians, many of Tennessee’s local legends have found a home in Brentwood.

Nashville is known for its respect of stardom (no paparazzi here!), which means everyone gets to feel at home in Music City. Thanks to this approach, it is not uncommon to see a “familiar” face when out and about in the area.

Top Schools

Brentwood, TN—and Williamson County in general—is known for hosting some of the top schools in the state and even the country! The area’s school district is one of the biggest draws for families looking to make a home in Brentwood.

Both public and private schools in the area have a longstanding tradition of educational excellence. Brentwood High School was even recently rated the number one comprehensive high school in Tennessee, and Brentwood Middle School is in the top 3 middle schools in the state.

Great Shopping & Dining

Brentwood has two distinct shopping and dining districts on the north and south sides of the city. The first is off of Franklin Road (U.S. Hwy 31) and I-65 and includes a collection of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. The newly expanded Hill Center shopping area offers everything from spas and gyms, to fun boutique shops and some of the area’s favorite dining options, including Chopt, Del Frisco’s Grille, Nama Sushi, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

On the south side of town is a shopping corridor that joins Brentwood and Franklin, TN. This area includes Cool Springs Galleria—an indoor shopping mall—and a plethora of surrounding shops and restaurants.

Premier Golfing

If you enjoy a quality game of golf, you won’t lack options in Brentwood. Three of the area’s most prominent golf courses can be found within the suburb: Nashville Golf & Athletic Club, Brentwood Country Club, and the Governor’s Club. And for those who are particularly fond of the game, consider exploring the estate homes at the Governor’s Club where you can both live and enjoy continual access to their Arnold Palmer Signature golf course.

Easy Access to Nashville

One of the most attractive features of Brentwood, TN is its location. Sitting just south of Nashville, the suburb affords easy access to the city, making it more convenient than ever to live in the peace and open spaces of Brentwood while working in Nashville.

Music City isn’t the only nearby attraction for Brentwood residents. The neighborhood community also boasts proximity to historic Franklin, TN, as well as local favorites such as Arrington Vineyards, gorgeous hiking trails, and nearby waterfalls, kayaking, and so much more.

With city life and country beauty all within reach, there seems to be something for everyone who chooses to make Brentwood their home.
